Welcome to the Hub of Hope

You little beauty!
Council supports site for new cancer care centre

Welcome to the South Coast Cancer Care Centre Webpage.

The Centre will be established to offer patients in the Greater South Coast excellence in cancer care whilst eliminating the need to travel long distances particularly to Wollongong. This centre will allow patients in the region to receive the best possible cancer treatment available whilst remaining close to their home, family and friends. The South Coast Cancer Care Centre will not only make Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy services accessible but also will act as a catalyst to improve medical services in the region, particularly Oncology.

The goal is that with the combination of state of the art technology and highly-skilled staff, the South Coast Cancer Care Centre's will provide excellence in care, not only in Australia but worldwide. Further it is a model upon which future regional cancer care centres in Australia may be developed.

The South Coast Cancer Care Centre will recognise the importance of education. Consequently through affiliations with institutions such as South Coast University, the Centre will be utilised for the purpose of teaching and training students and may also be involved in student initiated trials and research.

The South Coast Cancer Care Centre will be made possible through the formation of several cooperative partnerships. For example the Riverina Cancer Care Centre has partnerships with Cancer Care Associates Pty Limited which has provided the equipment and staffing and is responsible for the running and ongoing maintenance of the centre. It is envisaged that the NSW State Government will make land available of which the centre could be built. With the establishment of South Coast Cancer Care Centre Community Trust this will help facilitate the community's fundraising efforts to allow a centre of this magnitude and quality to be built.

Other partnerships may include The NSW Cancer Council and Cancer Patients Assistance Society (CPAS) which may provide accommodation for those patients who require lodgings whilst on treatment.

On behalf of the thousands of patients to be treated at the Centre, thank you to all those who are helping make this dream of a comprehensive cancer care centre on the South Coast of NSW a reality.

I would like to thank Tony H Noun for his wisdom and time in which he has devoted to the see this project be delievered to to the community of  South Coast.
